Things you Should Not Say to A Pregnant Woman...

Over the course of the last few months, I have learned that people say the most insensitive things to you when you’re pregnant. Several of my fellow pregos have shared there own appalling stories which has inspired this blog. Just in case you know someone who is extremely hormonal as they await their bundle of joy, here are some things you should NOT say to her…

“Should you really be eating that?”

“The doctors must be wrong! Are you sure there aren’t twins in the there? “

“WOW, you just keep getting bigger and bigger every day. “

“You must be about ready to pop!”
(No, actually I still have a few months to go.)
“OHHHHHHH! “

“How do you walk without falling forward?”

“What did you do this weekend, rob a buffet?”

“You look like your stomach has been possessed by a pumpkin!”

“WOW! if you ain't about five pounds away from a surprise visit from Biggest Loser.”

“You must feel so fat. How can you stand to go out in public?”

“These days you’re looking more like a squash then a banana”

“You’re starting to walk like a walrus.”

“Are you storing up food for winter?”

“Excuse me do you need help finding the plus size department”

"What are you like 11 months pregnant?"

My personal favorite……..

“You look like you swallowed the thanksgiving turkey whole!”

People say that stuff??? Certainly not to you! You're precious in your pregnancy...and I mean that in sincerity! Been there twice, and myself and many women would kill to look nearly as gorgeous even while we're not expecting as you do while you await your firstborn daughter! Pregnancy is such a fantastic thing, it's too bad not everyone can value that experience!

That is horrible! I got a few comments myself, but no where near that many or that bad.

From the mouth of babes...my 4 year old walked in on me changing and said I had (Ted you may not want to read this about me) saggy boobies and a lumpy butt...thanks! That is the same kiddo that made mooing noises at me when I was pumping just after his younger brother was born. I made myself a shirt that said "Don't tick off the pregnant girl" it has worked pretty well.

By the way, Ted this week is the anniversary of that horrible cold in BG when Olscamp did not shut down classes...remember, picture the red hat and coat!

I think the worst is when they ask you when you are due......3 months after you have given birth!

It's amazing how rude people can be. I had a student (who wasn't even mine...don't even know his name) stop me in the hall a couple months ago and ask me how long I was going to keep working. I said, 'as long as possible,' and he said, 'wow, because you are really pregnant'. Thanks, buddy!
